Sony to Merrill Lynch - You are wrong!

Merrill Lynch's Joe Osha authored a Technology Strategy / Industry Overview (2/17/06) citing reports that the launch of Sony Playstation 3 could be delayed by between 6 and 12 months, with the result being an autumn launch in Japan and a late 2006 or early 2007 launch in the U.S. Several pages of the report are devoted to the impact a delay will have on the game software, hardware and semiconductor vendors.

Sony's Kei Sakaguchi responds:

There is no change in our original plan to release the console in spring 2006.

Well, somebody is right and somebody is wrong or maybe both are correct? The Sony plan is to release the console in spring 2006 . . . plans don't always equal results, yet they remain plans despite the lack of results.

A Bloomberg article quoting Sakaguchi is linked here.

Hat tip to Joe of the Pinehurst Thread for the link.
