It is official, Playstation 3 will be released - worldwide before Thanksgiving 2006.
Ken Kutaragi, president of Sony Computer Entertainment, announced that Sony plans on avoiding the shortages experienced by Microsoft with its Xbox 360 by producing at least one million units each month, with a goal of six million units by March 2007
Additional details were released, some of which include the reason for the delay - copyright protection problems with Blu-ray drive, the games will be Blu-ray formatted, Playstation 3 will have an online experience known as "Playstation Network Platform," and PS1 and PS2 games will be 100% backwards compatible.
