Schwarzenegger has plans for Judge Whyte

Legislation recently signed by California Governor Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger was on the business end of a preliminary injunction. The law to restrict the sale and rental of violent video games was to take effect on January 1, 2006. The preliminary injunction raised cheers from gamers and jeers from the thought police. See previous posts on Treowth here and here.

Governor Schwarzenegger is reportedly digging in for a long battle and will be sending his representatives to occupy Judge Whyte's time. As reported in the San Francisco Chronicle and Gamasutra, Julie Soderlund, a spokesperson for California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, commented:

This is just the first step in what is certain to be a lengthy legal proceeding. Once the state is able to present evidence in the case, the courts will have the opportunity to understand why the governor and Legislature believe the state has a compelling interest in protecting children from potential harm from exposure to extremely violent video games.
