Samsung dreams of honor

Kim Sung-jin a Staff Reporter for The Korea Times earlier this month (10/3/05) wrote an article about Samsung's defiance to criticism.

Samsung who recently admitted price-fixing and will be paying a $300 million dollar fine, is being sued by Rambus for stealing intellectual property and in another court is being sued by Rambus for antitrust violations relating to RDRAM. Samsung's woes are not limited to the United States.

In Korea, Samsung is being attacked by non-governmental organizations, progressive lawmakers and even President Roh Moo-hyun on everything from illegal inheritance and corporate governance to questionable political contributions.

Samsung's public relations team is on fire . . . (gives me a greater appreciation for Rambus IR / PR)

"Countries and governments have been forgiven for greater sins. People have gotten over Nazi Germany. Why is there this never-ending determination to put Samsung in harm’s way?" asked a Samsung vice president in charge of public communication.

"In all of our business endeavors, we have the national interest at heart. We should not be made the scapegoat of every other bad thing that happens in our economy and society," the public communications executive said.
