Where there is smoke . . .

Rambus rumbled and came to life with heavy volume and a rising share price.

Speculation is that Rambus is to be snatched in a takeover.

Dow Jones reports that analyst Daniel Amir of WR Hambrecht & Co. thinks "it's unsubstantial." He opins, "Every couple of months, this rumor pops up."

Rambus has not commented . . .

Current capitalization is $1.18+/- billion at a share price of $11.80.

Some have calculated the royalties already owed Rambus on its intellectual property, found in SDRAM, DDR and other products, that is the subject of litigation to be several hundred million dollars.

Additionally, Rambus has sued various parties claiming they acted illegally to prevent that widespread adoption of RDRAM. Damages relating to RDRAM could exceed $1.0 billion.
