Rambus-Samsung

The early press returns are in:

EETimes recites the press release and adds:

For Rambus, the suit is the latest in a string of court battles against rival DRAM makers as the company's royalty-based business model continues to be tested and intellectual property debates remain a hot-button issue for technology companies.
The-inquirer:

We wonder how Samsung will feel about these further words from Harold Hughes, CEO of Rambus. "We continue to value our relationship with Samsung as one of the primary manufacturers of memory using our XDR DRAM and RDRAM designs. We very much hope that there is an opportunity in the near future to normalise all other aspects of our relationship as well."

D & R Headline News:

The Economic Times:

zdnet.com:

Just when you thought the Rambus lawsuits might be coming to a close, the memory designer has filed a suit against Samsung.

Private (shareholder) commentary from the Donkey’s mail bag:

I think the new management at Rambus found out what Tate has known for years. Rambus is dealing with crooks!!

We now know Harold Hughes has the guts to stand up to these companies and hold his ground. I was fearful that the new team would cave into Samsung with a deal like IFX.

It appears to me that he got his first taste of negotiations with these crooks and found out that the courts are the only way to collect a fair price for our IP. If they will not settle with Samsung they surely will not settle with Hynix.

Praise the Lord!
