Sony - Injunction regarding sales of PS2 stayed

CNET News.com reports that Judge Claudia Wilken of the U.S. District Court for Northern California stayed enforcement of the injunction prohibiting Sony “from manufacturing, using and/or selling in, or importing into, the United States the infringing Sony Playstation system.”

Last year a jury found that Sony infringed on technology owned by Immersion and ordered Sony to pay Immersion $82M. Judge Wilkens entered judgment against Sony in the amount of $82M, added interest in the amount of $8.7M and in a separate order issued an injunction.

However, Judge Wilken stayed the enforcement of the injunction based upon “the strength of Sony’s showing that it is likely to succeed on the merits of its appeal.”
