Senator Feinstein responds

Dear Mr. (Donkey):

Thank you for writing to express your opposition to Executive Order 13166. I appreciate hearing from you and welcome the opportunity to respond.

In 2000, President Clinton issued Executive Order 13166, which requires Federal agencies to provide improved access to Federal programs and activities for non‑English speaking residents. Senator Elizabeth Dole (R-NC) has introduced legislation-S. 2719-which would repeal Executive Order 13166. Additionally, this bill would prohibit the use of Federal funds to enforce requirements that government services be provided in a language other than English. Please know that I will keep your thoughts in mind should S. 2719 be considered by the full Senate.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to write to me. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact my Washington, D.C. office at (202) 224-3841. Best regards.

Sincerely yours,

Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator
