IBM Japan Ltd. plans to start selling the Cell high-performance microprocessor for use in high-performance computers. Orders for the Cell priced at US$8,600 +/- and packaged in an expansion board, will be accepted in April for delivery in August. Target sales units is 5,000 over five years.

Hynix is denying reports that problems with its 66nm production have resulted in 30 million defective 1Gb DDR2 chips or about 10% to its output.

Elpida is aiming to be the number one DRAM supplier in 2010.
