Rambus Inc. gives director Dr. Sunlin Chou options

Dr. Chou, an Intel man for 34 years, was appointed to the Rambus board of directors earlier this week to replace the recently departed Mark Pinto. Dr. Pinto abruptly resigned from the board in what was likely one the shortest tenures in a publicly traded company, due to unforeseen conflicts.

In its press release Rambus lauds Dr. Chou:

“Dr. Chou is an exceptional technologist and executive and we are proud to have him join the Rambus board,” said Geoff Tate, chairman of the Rambus board of directors. “Dr. Chou’s experience in design and process development complements the Rambus goal of continuing to advance overall system performance to deliver value to industry-leading customers.”
Rambus, ever generous, placed a bowl of carrots on Dr. Chou's table awarding him 40,000 options at a strike price of $38.59, with the initial 5,000 to vest on September 27, 2006.
