Sony Computer Entertainment has been awarded an Emmy for its original Sony PlayStation in the Outstanding Achievement in Technology and Advanced New Media category.
PlayStation, pioneered thre-dinensional gaming technolgy was launched in 1995 and sold over 100,000,000 units. Its successor, PlayStation 2, was first sold in Japan in March of 2000 and has sold ove 90,000,000. PlayStation 3 is expected to be released in the Spring of 2006.
Emmys are awarded by U.S. National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
