Why? The analysts and pundits don't seem to know.
"My independent research has been unable to verify any substance to such an event," says analyst Mike Cohen, who is director of research at Pacific American Securities and who owns the stock.Rambus isn't talking.
What does it mean? Who knows? Opinions are not in short supply:
"It's (RMBS) worth either $5 or $90," he (Mike Cohen) says, adding that the varied valuations are based on whether or not someone expects Rambus to ultimately win its legal cases.
There has to be more than a rumor here. Somebody, in fact a lot of somebodies, know something. Average daily volume has been 1.2 million shares. Today we traded 14 million. You would expect an unsubstantiated rumor to double or triple the volume. Big traders know something, and are betting heavily. (AOL message board).
You're a funny guy! Not the sharpest tool in the shed but funny! RMBS has a "Poison Pill" at $60.00 per share. I agree the buyout is just a rumor, not likely to happen but if it does I will be rich because it's not going to happen at 12.50 but it could at 12.50 X 6... (Yahoo! message board).
Markets getting ready to sell off. Traders won't get caught holding the bag. Sell off soon! No news just rumors! (Yahoo! message board).
But that's unlikely - what perhaps is more likely is that one of its old enemies amongst the memory company, the Dramurai is going to settle, or a judge in one of the court cases is about to make some kind of a decision. (theinquirer)
