Elpida Memory

Anton Shilov, writing for xbitlabs.com reports that Japan's largest memory maker, Elpida, announced that its major shareholders and founding partners (NEC & Hitachi) have sold a portion of their Elpida shares.

NEC has reduced its stake to 13.89% and Hitachi has reduced its stake to 19.7%, both from 23.84%.

In 2004 Elpida was the No. 5 maker of dynamic random access memory (DRAM) on the planet that controlled about 6% of shipments according to IC Insights research agency.
On June 20, 2005, Rambus announced an extension and expansion of its SDRAM and DDR DRAM patent licensing agreement with Elpida Memory, Inc., to March 2008.
