QLogic gives Rambus PCI Express “two thumbs up”

Rambus announced today (7/8/05) that QLogic Corporation (QLGC), a storage area network (SAN) infrastructure company, has incorporated the Rambus PCI Express* digital controller core in their line of Fibre Channel storage processor ASICs.

SANs are the modern day office cabinets or bank boxes used for storing documents. SANs are becoming increasingly popular with businesses because a SAN allows for the storage of electronic data on multiple storage devices even in multiple locations - a virtual electronic storage facility which allows geographically distant records to be accessed and searched from multiple locations.

"We chose the Rambus PCI Express end point core, because it was the most advanced core available on the market," said Amit Vashi, senior director product marketing for QLogic Corporation. "Our engineers have given two thumbs up for the integration support that they received from the Rambus team."

*PCI Express is a trademark of PCI-SIG

Hat tip to FinzToRite for forwarding Rambus' announcement - I seemed have fallen off Rambus' list.
