Apple & Intel to say "I do"

It has been reported (here, here, here & here) that Intel's rumored courtship of Apple has flowered and will be officially announced Monday (June 6, 2005), with Apple to switch to Intel's x86's chips in its Mac Mini mid 2006 and its higher end computers the next year.

IBM, the current supplier of chips for Apple, reportedly was not willing to provide the range of chips requested by Apple due to the low market share and profitability.

The inquirer reports hedge bets are being placed – perhaps Steve Jobs will not take the opportunity presented when he delivers the keynote speech at the company's annual conference for software developers in San Francisco to announce the Apple / Intel engagement.
