Empiricum responds to reader's comment

In my Guest Editorial today I stated:

". . . Another Sofaer asset that Rambus management should look into is his Jewish heritage noting in particular the media components and control in America, Judge Sofaer might as well be the PR man that Rambus needs at this time.

"In response, "s110572" commented:

***I find it unfortunate that you included in your otherwise witty and enlightened post today the inference that, because new Rambus board member Abraham Sofaer is of the Jewish faith, he has powerful influence on "the media." One could postulate an emirical correlation between media ownership and those of the Jewish faith, but one should not presuppose influence automatically. I find this to be the height of ignorance and a furtherance of stereotypical demagoguery. Certainly you sir, with a domain and forum to publish your views literally to the wired world, would not appreciate being attributed to you some erroneous label based soley on your enterpirse and desire to reach out. Yet, you do so to poor Mr. Sofaer. Indeed, your anachronistic position completely overlooks the more obvious connection to the value Mr. Sofaer may bring to the management team as regards legal issues, including those quite aside from negotiating, which I believe may allude to another, perhaps more subtle but still pernicious, slur regarding Mr. Sofaers presumed faith.***

I find it irreverent and disconcerting that a seemingly knowledgeable, intelligent and open-minded person like "s110572" gets confused between "faith" and "heritage." I also find it appalling that he does not know -- or perhaps refuses to open his eyes -- to the true power structures in America. Outside of Murdoch, who owns and controls the media in America? Outside of the media, who controls the daily lives and affairs in America... and perhaps the world? Should I start a discussion with the PNAC?

Now as to Judge Abraham D. Sofaer, I did not mention his Jewish "faith." Rather, I used the word "heritage." Did I not? Is there a difference? Yes! Did I use the word "influence"? No, I did not! Does he have the charisma to deal with the media? I think he does! But whether he becomes Rambus' main PR man remains to be seen. Does he have FRIENDS in the media? That's for Rambus and Hughes to find out!

So as you can see, "s110572," when I write I try to be exacting in my selection of words. I urge you to do the same.

Thank you,

Empiricum

What I did was articulate your unspoken assertions. "Heritage" would equate to Mr. Sofaer having a birthright to the "power structure" and that structure's media access. A birthright to media access can accurately be characterized as influence. And I guess charisma is another birthright handed down to Mr. Sofaer. He is a fortunate person indeed. Seems your ancestors were absent when they were handing out lucky breaks. You try to compensate, but all that bile blocks your way. Work harder, speak less.
Your attempt to disguise a racist political agenda is a failure. One need only peer intently between the lines.
