Phone TV

Reed-electronics reports that three fabless consumer electronic companies have raised money to help get their audio and video devices to market.

The companies include Akustica and Siano Mobile Silicon, targeting multimedia to mobile devices, and D2Audio looking to take its third generation product, which targets entertainment PCs, to market.
Siano is pursuing mobile TV and is developing a receiver that targets cellular phones, laptop computers, and portable video players, etc.

"The new emerging market of TV on mobile requires breakthrough solutions that will overcome issues of mobility, power consumption, and physical size, while minimizing the overhead on the already-sensitive bill of material of hand held devices," said Ulrich Schumacher, a Siano board member, former Infineon CEO and
a partner at Francisco Partners, in a statement.
