B-15A is on the move - again

Robert Roy Britt writing for livescience.com reports that the iceberg named B-15A (71 miles long!) that calls the Antarctica its home has crashed into the continent's “Drygalski ice tongue and smacked a city sized chunk of it into the ocean.” Scientists will be redrawing maps.

Icebergs are not christened with names, only numbers. B-15A is the largest piece of iceberg B-15 that calved off the Ross Ice Shelf in March 2000. B-15 initially was about the size of Jamaica.

Here is a cool satellite picture found in Mr. Britt’s article.
