Hynix set aside $338.7 million for price fixing

EETimes online reports:

Hynix Semiconductor Inc. has apparently set aside 347 billion won ($338.7 million) in provisions related to the ongoing price-fixing investigation in the DRAM industry, according to a report from the JoongAng Daily in South Korea.

Hynix (Seoul) apparently disclosed the amount in footnotes on an audited report of its 2004 results, according to the report. The company joins Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and Infineon Technologies AG in setting aside reserves in the case.
Infineon pled guilty to price fixing in the DRAM market and paid a $160,000,000 fine in September 2004.

Samsung set aside $100,000,000 in December 2004.

Rambus has filed a lawsuit in San Francisco, California against Micron, Hynix, Infineon and "Does" alleging they engaged in a conspiracy to constrict output and fix prices. Read the complaint here.

The Ramboids gleefully wait while the US Department of Justice gathers evidence, sighting a legal victory that will stuff Rambus' coffers and vindicate their faith.
